Welcome to the Gus Thomasson Corridor - GTC for short.

Gus Thomasson (GT) Rd enters Mesquite in the Northwest area by La Prada Event Center and Country Club Estates.  It travels Southeast (parallel to I-635 and N Galloway Ave East off I-635) crossing I-30 and ends at I-80.

The North portion of GTC is located in a Tax Increment Reinvestment Zone (TIRZ) and new housing development is taking place. A $3 billion road infrastructure improvement project was recently completed and the Thomasson Square Project is estimated to have a cumulative economic impact of $558 million.

Light Up the Corridor!

Make the Gus Thomasson Corridor (GTC) glow this holiday season by decorating your business storefront. The public is invited to #ShopGTC and vote for their favorite holiday-themed storefront November 15 to November 30.

Business storefront winners will be announced at an in-person event exclusively for GTC businesses on December 5, from 4 to 5 p.m. at La Michoacana (3301 Gus Thomasson Rd.). Category award winners will receive prizes and light refreshments will be served. If you are a GTC business and would like to attend, please RSVP by emailing Alberto.

When members of the public vote for a business storefront, they will be entered into a drawing to win a $200 gift card to La Michoacana. The winner of the gift card will be announced online on December 5.


The business must be located in the GTC, which consist of businesses located on and neaer Gus Thomasson Rd. between U.S. Hwy. 80 and Mandalay Dr (see maps in the next accordion on this webpage, including the Available Gus Thomasson Corridor Properties map). 

The storefront must be decorated for the holidays and the award categories are:

  • Overall Holiday Spirit: Creativity, originality; evoking a strong holiday atmosphere
  • Use of Recycled/Upcycled Materials: Use of sustainable and recycled materials in decorations
  • People's Choice: Based on public votes! The store with the most votes from the community
  • Use of Technology: Use of technology, such as interactive displays or light shows; use of lights, colors, and/or illumination
  • GTC Pride: Use of brand colors, incorporation of Corridor history, etc.

Please keep the below in mind when decorating your storefront:

  • Need to maintain storefront visibility from 3 feet above the ground to at least 6 feet above the ground 
  • Window signs cannot cover more than 25% of the windows/storefront. You can affix decorations to your exterior (brick, siding, etc.) and door
  • Sidewalks and accessibility routes cannot be blocked, sidewalks need to have at least 36” of clear space
  • No rooftop inflatables
