Pieced Together Studio

Keeping tradition and entrepreneurship alive in downtown Mesquite.
Small Business | February 21st, 2019

The Pieced Together Studio in Mesquite was the dream of its founder, Michele Milligan, to honor the memory of her beloved grandmother. It was Michele’s grandmother who passed down her love of quilting and taught Michele how to sew and quilt as a young girl. This, in turn, inspired Michele to share her passion for this beautiful art form with the rest of the Mesquite community.

Michele chose Mesquite for her business because she believed in the potential and future of the city and its town square. She was often quoted saying that “Every square needs a quilt shop.” Unfortunately no space in the square was available at that time, so she opened her first studio off Gus Thomasson Road.

A year later, the perfect space on the square at 2015 W. Main Street became available, and Michele immediately began work on her studio layout. All Michele’s hard work paid off, and the studio re-opened in September of 2015.

Pieced Together Studio is a cornerstone of the downtown Mesquite shopping scene, welcoming locals and visitors alike; transporting them from the hectic rush of everyday life to the serene and peaceful atmosphere that comes with quilting and sewing. The studio boasts a large selection of fabrics and supplies, as well as custom-sewn quilts, quilting services and a meeting place for special events and classes.

Carrying on the growth and success of Pieced Together Studio today is Michele’s husband, Brandon; her daughters, Kirsten and Bekah; her son, Ryan; and daughter-in-law, Laney, who took over the studio following Michele’s passing in 2018. Together, they ensure that the legacy of Michele and her grandmother live on and continue to inspire the Mesquite community to discover the art of quilting.
